New super-powered Xbox console: Project Scorpio from Microsoft announced
Coming in the holiday of 2017 would be the most powerful console ever “Project Scorpio”. Project Scorpio is a 4K-capable, VR-ready Xbox.
According to Xbox chief Phil Spencer, Microsoft views the new device is not a refresh but. “IT’S A DRAMATIC STEP UP FOR US.”
Project Scorpio will feature 8 cores, 320Gb memory bandwidth, and six teraflops of performance that will allow for true fully uncompressed 4K gaming. Like the Xbox One before it, Project Scorpio will use a SOC (system on a chip) solution, which means that it’s highly likely to use high-end integrated graphics.
Microsoft says the machine will run at a performance speed of six teraflops and support both 4K gaming and ‘high fidelity VR.’ They’re touting the new GPU’s power and speed, promising a major boost. “I think it’s gonna be magical,” Bethesda’s Todd Howard said.
Scorpio will compete directly not just against the PC but against Sony’s high-end PlayStation, codenamed Neo.
